This year was the first Night to Shine event hosted in Lees Summit at Abundant Life. We had the honor to be a part of this very special evening that is celebrated around the world on the same night each year by the Tim Tebow Foundation for people with special needs. It’s a prom-like celebration where attendees are made to feel cherished and celebrated, with hairdressers and makeup artists on hand and a prom closet stocked with dresses, suits, and tuxes to choose from. Corsages and boutonnieres were provided, a red carpet and lights set the stage for grand entrances, and cheerleaders offered high fives with paparazzi and encouragement along the way. Guests received hugs from mascots like the Chick-fil-A Cow and KC Wolf, and enjoyed dinner, face painting, caricature drawings, games, and dancing — the evening concluding with everyone receiving a crown and being honored as king or queen of the night. There was even a party bus full of lights and lanterns to drive them escort them around town. It was pure joy to see so many smiling faces ready for pictures and eager for their time to shine. We can’t wait to be part of this wonderful event again.
